| Tell-Tale SIGNS | ||
| 1. | Very little activity in and out of the house | |
| 2. | Late nights or very short visits by people. | |
| 3. | Visitors often leave one person waiting in the car while another enters the premises. | |
| 4. | Entry to the house is often made through the garage, rear or side entrances | |
| 5. | Strange smells like strong fabric softener, or a "skunk" smell comes from the home, often at the same time of day or night | |
| 6. | Periodic movement of large bulky items or garbage bags. | |
| 7. | Evidence of tampering to the electric meter (damaged or broken seals) or the ground around it. | |
| 8. | Unauthorized Water and/or electrical cords running to the basement or outbuildings. | |
| 9. | Reventing of the furnace exhaust | |
| 10. | Humming sound or motorized, fan-like noises from the house. | |
| 11. | Covered and sealed windows with condensation on them. | |
| 12. | Invisble to the outside but use of high intensity bright lights | |
| 13. | No activity of people engaged in daily/ weekly routine of buying groceries or furniture into the home. | |
| 14. | Little or no garbage on garbage days | |
| 15. | Air conditioners on outbuildings | |
| 16. | Discarded equipment such as nutrient containers, pots, wiring, soil, rot balls, aluminum shrouds, PVC piping on the property | |
| 17. | Little or no outdoor maintenance performed e.g. grass not cut or snow not shoveled | |
| 18. | Occupants have expensive cars, cell phones, pagers, that is not supported by their stated profession | |
| 19. | Outdoor/indoor lights, radio/television operating 24 hours a day; | |
| 20. | Flyers in the mailbox or on the porch; children's toys/bikes left outside residence with no evidence of youngsters reside/visit | |
| 21. | Excessive and unnecessary security e.g guard dogs, "Keep Out" signs, high fences, heavy chains and locks on gates | |
| 22. | "Booby traps" to discourage intruders | |
